Glenda
Tunbridge
When Glenda first began working with Activ8 in February 2006, she
was 40 years old, 80Kg, had low self esteem, was unhappy where her
body was heading and unable to walk up stairs let-a-lone perform
any meaningful exercise. Since January 2005, Glenda had seen many
doctors about the osteoarthritis in her knees. With little convincing,
this became her main motivation. After seeing Glenda walk in the
main doors holding onto the railing and virtually pulling herself
up by stepping twice on every step) I knew that it was going to be
a long process to get her functioning normally once again. After
performing detailed screening procedures and discussing Glenda’s
short and long term goals, I developed a personalised program targeting
her personal goals. The first intention was to defy the odds of further
surgery on her knees. The program included a good balanced combination
of exercises to improve her performance in kayak paddling, decrease
body fat percentage, improve the range and strength of her knees,
help with balance and co-ordination, and improve her posture whilst
having fun.
Glenda started with a training age of zero (0) years. Because of
this, the program had to be specific for Glenda's body, goals and
training history. She consistently questioned every exercise and
how meaningful the exercises were for her, but we slowly progressed.
It wasn't long until she could see improvements all over and started
to enjoy the workouts. Soon she was running up the stairs excited
for the next session!
As we worked through the structured program it wasn't long before
Glenda experienced some weight loss and improvement in her paddling
as well as in her general health and wellbeing. She has started feeling
better within herself and now walks around the gym with much more
pride. Glenda has lost a total of 40cm from her waist, hip and bust
region and dropped her RHR (resting heart rate) from 95 to 78 in
just 6 months. Her inner core strength has improved considerably,
which has helped with her balance and co-ordination whilst paddling.
Her program is regularly updated and there are great improvements
in all areas.
“Training with Trent this year has been just awesome. I had
no idea we could achieve this amount of improvement. Trent has been
patient and generous with my constant questions. He's also kept a
great balance of fun and variety in our sessions and he's pushed
me when I've needed it. I can totally recommend Trent Carruthers
and Active8 Health & Fitness – I encourage you to experience
it for yourself!” |
